Homemade Apple Oatmeal

Image
It really is that time of year for the taste of apples and cinnamon! The other day I wanted something hearty, filling, yet healthy for breakfast. The chilly mornings leave a desire for something warm as well so I concocted this delicious yet simple recipe that is ready within minutes!  Homemade Apple Oatmeal 1 apple, peeled, cored, cut into 8th's, then sliced thinly into a small saucepan 1/2 cup oatmeal (not instant) 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (add more if you like more) Dash of nutmeg, cloves and salt Stir together in the small saucepan. Add 1 cup water of milk (I used water) and bring to a boil. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so it doesn't stick to the pan. Once the apples are soft it's done!   Delicious, filling and fairly healthy. Enjoy! Oh and this is one serving :)

Homemade Air Spray Freshener by Abby

Image
By Abby F. We all know the power of smells and scents. Aromatherapy is one of the best ways to relieve stress, for example, but nice smells can bring up many emotions and feelings in a person. And of course we all love the natural smells, such as freshly cut grass, cherry blossoms, roses, lilac, the forest after the rain, etc. That is why we all buy air fresheners for our homes, to make our homes smell that good and fresh, and also to cover up other smells, like cooking fumes. The sad part about all of it though, is that the air fresheners we are used to buying from the stores are full with chemicals. And even if they fulfill their purpose and make our homes smell amazing, sometimes they come with the price of our health. Because they release a lot of chemicals in the air we breathe. If you are an air spray freshener aficionado and wish your home would always smell great, but you do not want to keep breathing chemicals, this article will give you an alternative. Here you...

Curry Chicken

Image
I LOVE curry so I wanted to make the dish on my own, tasting like it came from a restaurant BUT with organic ingredients which you can't get at most restaurants. I created this from a few different idea's I had and from a few other recipes I saw and created my own Curry Chicken. This recipe serves 2.  Recipe: 1 chicken breast, cut and drenched in dry rub (recipe below) after sitting at least a half hour 2 carrots cut biased 1/2  large onion or one small/medium onion cut in half and sliced thin 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut milk 3 teaspoons cornstarch Coconut oil for cooking Combine the coconut milk and cornstarch until no lumps appear; set aside. Cook the carrots and onions down in about 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil until crisp tender. The onions will be a little more done than the carrots. Remove from pan and set aside in a bowl. Add a little more coconut oil and then the chicken. Cook chicken until just about done. Add t...

Cheese Wonton's

Cheese Wonton's - Just in time for the big game! Try this amazing recipe for homemade cheese wontons. Personally, I like them better than any Chinese restaurant that I have found! 1 pkg wonton skins 1 pkgscream cheese, softened 1 cup of green onions, thinly sliced 1 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1 egg 1 Tablespoon of water Yield: About 18 filled wontons Combine the cream cheese with the Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Add green onions.  Create an egg wash by beating the egg with the water. Brush onto 3-4 wonton skins at a time and add about a teaspoon and a half to the center of the wonton. See picture below: Pinch two opposite corners together as pictured: Then pinch other sides up one at a time: Continue until you fill all the wonton skins or you run out of filling. My package came with 60 wonton skins, so I had to make 3 batches of the cream cheese filling to fill them all.  Deep fry until golden brown and serve wi...
