Cheese Wonton's

Image
Cheese Wonton's - Just in time for the big game! Try this amazing recipe for homemade cheese wontons. Personally, I like them better than any Chinese restaurant that I have found! 1 pkg wonton skins 1 pkgscream cheese, softened 1 cup of green onions, thinly sliced 1 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1 egg 1 Tablespoon of water Yield: About 18 filled wontons Combine the cream cheese with the Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Add green onions.  Create an egg wash by beating the egg with the water. Brush onto 3-4 wonton skins at a time and add about a teaspoon and a half to the center of the wonton. See picture below: Pinch two opposite corners together as pictured: Then pinch other sides up one at a time: Continue until you fill all the wonton skins or you run out of filling. My package came with 60 wonton skins, so I had to make 3 batches of the cream cheese filling to fill them all.  Deep fry until golden brown and serve with pl

When The Neighbor Knocks....

A Post on Teaching Your Child to Apologize Okay, writing this blog post kind of makes me smile. This post all stems from an incident that happened about a half hour to 45 minutes ago. Benjamin started throwing a fit because I wouldn't give him my phone to look up toys to check out. (It is a funny thing he does. He loves his toys!) He has a tablet so I told him to use that if he really wanted to look at toys, but if he kept it up I would have to take that away as well. Well in his fits his new thing is to pound his foot on the floor. Yes, I have a foot stomper. I have no idea where this stems from or where he got the idea that it would be cool to pound his foot, but I guess it's better than hitting! During his fit he was pounding his foot, and I told him to stop pounding his foot because we have neighbors and it is disrespectful. We live on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex and I am POSITIVE our neighbors hear all this commotion going on. Mid-fit I get a knoc

Are You a Potential Victim?

Security Guard Shield: Protect Your Wallet Have you ever thought about how safe the credit cards INSIDE your wallet are? We all worry about using them at certain stores and our data being stolen because it has happened a lot recently. But what about when you aren't even using your credit card? I have been introduced to a wonderful product that takes care of just that issue. Before this, I didn't even KNOW that credit card data could be stolen right out of your hand (or pocket) without you even touching or swiping your cards. Once I received the product, my husband even brought up the subject to co-workers. Come to find out, one of their dads had his bank information stolen off of his debit card with this technology. He walked into a gas station after pumping gas to use the bathroom; never once did he take his wallet out of his pocket. He didn't have to for this thief to get his information. There was a device somewhere in the store activated to steal in

Buttermilk Pecan Pancakes

Pancakes from childhood... I was doing a twitter party tonight and was reminded of this recipe my mom used to make us when we were kids. To me, they have always tasted like a tasty version of pecan pie. Less sweet and a delicious homemade pancake! Now, I don't have pictures, but am hoping to make them soon so I can add one! I have everything but pecans and it is almost 9pm! Buttermilk Pecan Pancakes 3 eggs, separated 3 Tablespoons butter, melted 1 1/2 Cups flour 1/2 to 1 Cup chopped pecans 1 Tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 2/3 Cup buttermilk* In a bowl, beat the egg yolks and butter. Combine flour, pecans, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to the egg mixture, alternately with buttermilk. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Fold into batter. Pour batter onto lightly greased griddle, about 1/4 cup; turn when bubbles form on top of pancakes. Cook until second side is golden brown.  Yield: About 16 pancakes *To m

The Loneliest Loss

Pregnancy Loss: A Tough Subject You just lost a baby. You were 4 weeks pregnant, 8 weeks, 16 weeks or even 36 weeks. That baby was YOUR baby. You are a momma. But other's don't understand and frankly cannot unless they have lived it. In July of 2013, July 17th to be exact, I lost my second pregnancy at 8 weeks along. I have a healthy 4 year old already so this pregnancy was supposed to be normal and healthy too. But it wasn't. That dream was crushed. We wanted that baby and had even tried to get pregnant and we did the first month. And all that hope was lost with one simple trip to the bathroom and one phone call to the doctor. Doctor visit, more blood, fever and stress. And it was over. Or was it? See what they don't tell you is that it never is over. It has now been a year and a half and March 1st would be my baby's first birthday. But she will be celebrating that birthday in heaven. How do I know it was a girl? I have been asked that by blunt people who have no
