Barbecued Baby Back Ribs

I have been trying to create a good recipe for ribs for a LONG time now and I finally nailed it. Because of this, I am sharing it with everyone! I was inspired by the racks in the butcher shop and the fact they were priced extremely well. So I bought this rack of baby backs and created this tasty, moist meal.

Here is how I did it:

Start with a rub. You can make adjust this to your own flavor profile as you like.

  • 1 Cup of dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
Mix this together and set aside.

Lay out two layers of tin foil and cut the rack in half, if you want to that is. Then take the rub and rub it into the meat on both sides. I used all of my rub for the one rack.

Take two more layers of tin foil and wrap the ribs up nice and air tight.

Let this sit in the fridge overnight. When you are ready to cook them, pull them out of the fridge and fill the bottom of a broiler pan with water.

Let the ribs rest on the rack on top and cover that with tin foil. I used 2 layers over the top so no steam escaped.

Place in the over set at 200° and cook for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Pull them out of the oven and top with your favorite BBQ sauce.

If you want even more flavor, throw them on a hot grill for 3-4 minutes per side. That's what I did and it is so good. You get a crispy glaze and it is so tasty.

Serve with cornbread and veggies or whatever your favorite sides are and enjoy!
